Great Shakespeare’s ghost! The first 4 days of the Fringe sailed by rather quickly. Between seeing shows, editing and posting reviews and SSP’s, and volunteering it has been kind of hectic. I think it is going pretty well, over 50 reviews so far, though we can always use more. Especially reviews from you, the Fringe-going public. Just write us at jennyrevue@gmail.com and include your real name, the show title and your musings and wonderings.
No Shame—We could also use some more Shameless Self-Promotions. So to all of you performers out there, think of us as your electronic wingman, and email us 80 words (or less) about your show that is not your program blurb. You can also think of it as Jenny Awards insurance. Just in case we don’t get around to reviewing your show, you will still be considered for inclusion in our wacky categories at the Jenny Awards (more on those in a couple days).
Rusty Dusty—Since this is our 25th aniversary, I wish I could have done a little more to celebrate. I do encourage you to vist our Archives to peruse all the ancient texts from the past. Five years back we did make some interesting visual trips down memory lane for our 20th Anniversary, each featured different eras of the Jenny. Since you can’t change the past, unless you are the Berenstain Bears (it was Berenstein I am certan!), I don’t feel too bad about reusing them, so here they are:
- 1991 – 1995 page 1 and 4
- 1991 – 1995 page 2 and 3
- 1996 – 1998 page 1 and 4
- 1996 – 1998 page 2 and 3
- 2000 – 2005 page 1 and 4
- 2000 – 2005 page 2 and 3
- 2006 – 2010 page 1 and 4
- 2006 – 2010 page 2 and 3
I’m also reusing one of Dave Pruden’s excellent cartoons. Dave has been kept busy by appearing in the show “TRAVAILS WITH MY AUNT” so our cartoon cupboards are a little bare.
You Can’t Get There From Here—Once again the Fringe landscape is awash with orange barracades. This year the Tom Hendry Theatre at the MTC Warehouse (Venue #6) is especially unreachable by vehicle. So be sure to give yourselves extra time to get to shows as street parking has also been greatly reduced.
Well I am signing off for today, but I’d like to know your thoughts on what you think of the online version, improvements we can make, and how much you miss the paper version. Enjoy the Fringe!
